Most scientific studies on this topic reveal a possible relationship between periodontitis and the risk of the following diseases/dangers:

-         Heart attack

-         Stroke 

-         Premature birth 

-         Obstructive lung diseases

-         Intestinal diseases

By the way: bad breath is often caused by decomposition products of periodontal bacteria.
